December Update

by Stucuk

Since September quite a bit of progress has been made. Objects can now be created, re-sized, re-positioned and deleted. You can also now set the texture's position, scale and rotation per object or per face. The grids can now be zoomed in an out and a snap mode has been implemented. Snap is where the selection rectangle will "jump" to the nearest gridline, Snap can be disabled so you can create objects of any size/position. There is still things left to do like making an entity system, adding options (So people can change the grid colours, etc), etc.

September Progress

by Stucuk

During September i have had some free time to put into the FME project. While it can't edit anything or create objects it can now import 3DW files geometry and display them on the Grids.

I have recently been implementing Newton Game Dynamics Physics into FME, one of the things it is being used for is selecting the objects. I have managed to implement per object and per surface selecting/deselecting. The next thing that needs to be done is coding it so objects can be re-sized/re-positioned.

Rebuild

by Stucuk

I have decided to rebuild the application. The problem with the current incarnation (Which is far from finished anyway) is that its hard coded. It for example was never designed to be generic, so adding stuff like Plugin support would require alot of code changes. Due to this i have decided to build generic units which will form the basis of a new engine.

Physics

by Stucuk

Iv recently started work on a Delphi Wrapper for Newton. Newton Game Dynamics is a free physics engine. One feature I plan on adding is the ability to test levels (As in walk through them, knock over barrels, etc), and for that physics is a good thing to have. Im also hoping to implement the ability to use physics for placement, as in unfreezing objects, knocking them about etc, to allow for more realistic worlds(In most games you don't always find barrels stacked perfectly). But first i need to finish the wrapper :P.

Free Todo List Application

by Stucuk

In an attempt to become a bit more organised i have created a Free Todo list application. I had looked for a free one but the ones i found were more complex than is needed(By me anyway). The actual grid which the Todo's are rendered on is Next-Grid which is a component for Delphi/CBuilder. It can be downloaded for free from their website.

Features:

  • Auto Save's todo list on close and Loads when application starts
  • Save/Load todo lists
  • Ability to Score out completed todo's
  • Export to plain text
  • Remember last position and size (Optional)
  • Run on startup (Optional)
  • "Stay on top" which forced the todo list to be the top most application (Optional)
  • Minimise to tray, which will minimise the application to the tray when the close button (the top right X beside maximise) is pressed (Optional)
  • Start minimised (Optional)
